Ordering Your Cartoon : How The Process Works

AN EXAMPLE OF A COMPLETED ORDER (A WEDDING GIFT CARTOON)

STEP ONE

The customer used the ENQUIRY FORM (See below) to send details about what he had in mind, and when delivery would be needed. I confirmed via email, and he sent me these reference photos to work from.

It helps to send a selection of photos if possible. That way I can choose the best. The faces just need to be visible so no hats, scarves, sunglasses etc. Head and shoulders shots are the best, rather than full length. Smiling faces are preferable.

STEP TWO

I did a rough draft of just the faces. It's important to get the faces looking right before adding all the detail and background. I send this via email usually the next day.

If the customer doesn't think the faces look right I will try a few more drafts possibly working off different photos. If we get to 3 or 4 attempts and you still don't like it then we can just cancel the order, and no hard feelings. My style of drawing might not be to your taste and that's fine. In this case the customer was happy with the draft.

STEP THREE

Rough sketches of the bodies next based on the info the customer has given me - in this case the fact that the groom is a musician and also much taller than the bride. So here we have a guitar pose for him and platform shoes for her.

STEP FOUR

Colouring now, then adding background. I email the customer each update just to get feedback. Sometimes there are small changes at this stage. This takes place over the next few days.

The final touch for this order was to add in the dog. Then I sent a payment request (I can accept secure online Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Paypal / Bank Transfer, as well as Cheque / Postal Order). Payment was received then next day the final print was ready to ship.

This customer opted to get just the print and frame it himself.
